Arctic Women In Crisis (AWIC), located at 5125 Herman Street in Utqiagvik, Alaska, provides critical support and services for individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. With 24-hour staffing and a dedicated crisis line, AWIC offers emergency shelter, trauma-informed counseling, and legal and medical advocacy for victims and their families. The organization also operates Safe Homes across villages and ensures trained advocates are available to provide culturally-sensitive assistance, including Iñupiaq and Tagalog language support. AWIC’s programs extend beyond immediate safety to include case management, parenting classes, and in-school prevention education to strengthen community resilience.
