Aroostook Mental Health Center - Crisis Stabilization Unit

Aroostook Mental Health Center’s Children’s Crisis Stabilization Units (CCSU) in Fort Fairfield and Calais, Maine, provide short-term, community-based residential treatment for youth ages 4–17 experiencing acute emotional or behavioral crises. These voluntary units offer round-the-clock support in a safe, ADA-compliant environment designed to stabilize children and adolescents facing severe stress, trauma, depression, suicidal thoughts, or other mental health emergencies.

Through a trauma-informed, family-centered approach, CCSU staff deliver individual, group, and family counseling, focusing on restoring stability and helping clients return to a pre-crisis level of functioning. The program includes 24/7 crisis intervention, therapeutic support, and coordination with existing service providers to ensure continuity of care. Aroostook Mental Health Center is committed to accessible, inclusive care for all youth regardless of background, language, or ability.
