Don't let them think they are taking good care of your mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces, grandmothers, whatever a woman can be called. It is sheer hell. I have been out of this program for over ten years and the trauma I endured there makes it worse!!!!! If you want your loved ones to get help and Riverside treatment center is still open advocate to get them there. It is still DOC but it is healthier, happier, faster, better, and the staff there actually cares. The so called staff at Elkhorn don't even like what they see and that is straight from their own mouths. The "community" they try and create there is horrendous. When I was there it was a 30 bed facility now it is 50???? Anything to get more state funding I suppose. Nothing but trauma comes from this facility. The so called nice caring nurse doesn't care for nothing. Food sucks. The only only thing good that came from this facility is leaving it!!!! Advocate for Riverside and if that place is closed then just pray your female counterparts and write them there as much as you can and take as many calls from them as they can. Listen to them and be there for them because it is hell. Even visitation is hell as you have to strip down completely naked and be demeaned and feel like an animal and then your welcome back to the center after the visit over is a UA. Such a wonderful joy to see family but to be humiliated as you do it is horrible. God bless anyone who goes here
