My experience at Valley Vista was truly life-changing. I spent a little over 30 days there for substance abuse treatment, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported, respected, and genuinely cared for. The staff are nothing short of exceptional—knowledgeable, compassionate, and consistently present. They took the time to really listen, meet me where I was, and help me build the tools I needed to heal and grow. Their encouragement never felt forced or generic; it was sincere and deeply motivating. The program itself is thoughtfully structured and effective. The combination of therapy, education, and daily support created an environment where real change felt possible . I didn’t just get sober here—I learned how to understand myself better, take accountability, and move forward with hope and confidence. Valley Vista gave me a safe space to reset my life and reminded me that recovery is not only possible, but worth it. I left worse than when I got there. The people there scapegoated me. I was experiencing bad asthma from the medication and the psychiatrist didn’t even help me adjust the medication for two years when I was the one who made the change. But they charge you a lot of money and just let you be in their factory. Staff avoided me and gave me bad vibes. I truly tried to connect with the people there but that backfired and they obviously had issues with me trying to stay lucid. Send your loved ones somewhere else. It’s a factory. I do not miss those people. It was three tough years. Lastly, the Staff were not good and needed to do more than bullshitting with each other in some kind of foreign pig Latin. I know people like getting a word in on cigarette breaks but holy crap! Then their management is strong and your loved one is seriously not there so welcome and I don’t want that for me or your loved one. However, you should go elsewhere is all. They want to get rich like one staff told me who was a former resident who they hired because he was a bullshitting talker from New Jersey. That place is for a loved one who truly can’t function. I learned from them because two seriously ill residents accused me of assault and I had to explain my innocence to the State of Vermont and police to stick up for myself and then nobody cared except my therapist who grilled me with questions for three years as I explained myself to her too. Perhaps they have changed and better have. If I was you I would take a good look at them first and compare them to other places like Alternative to Meds Center in Arizona who at least try to show you that psychiatry can be harmful but you need your loved to be strong enough or motivated to go there. I just posted this because I don’t want people to subtly be taken advantage of like I was. It’s wrong. I’m not a boxer but when they train they learn to move out of the way and that applies to me and you when it comes to Averte

I had an abscess twice from court order medication they didn’t do anything about it. Next thing I know I was apprehended by local police and state troopers and had an altercation and got tasered twice all because of claremartin centers protocol. I never received a text message or email prior to becoming detained. Lack of transparency and lack of order. Screw dr Keven Buchanan. This is one of only facilities that deals with mental health in rural Vermont. Good luck finding treatment with a solid team. F ‘em
