Mental Health Providers in Madison, Alabama

I'm pretty surprised to see these bad reviews regarding Dr. Doody since this has not been my experience AT ALL. I have been seeing her for several years & she helped me so much through a very traumatic experience. She is always professional, thoughtful & takes the time to really hear you. She also referred me to a wonderful Psychologist to help deal with my trauma and it has been life changing. I can't thank Dr. Doody enough for all she has done for me.

If 0 stars was an option I’d choose that. I took my son and my daughter here. If you want someone who will treat your child like a science experiment, then this is the place for you. They push meds aggressively and guilt tripped me when I refused to allow my kids to be guinea pigs. They talked up staying in a mental ward like it was a fun mental health camp with great food. They barely took the time to evaluate my kids and then acted like experts on them. They didn’t want to take my kids off meds that were effecting them negatively. Their solution was to up the dose then try a new one while they were still coming off the last. They call it zipping up and I had to argue a good deal to prevent it. It’s impossible for a kid to know if a medication is helping them or not if they don’t have a baseline to compare it to. The doctors providers we saw here were complete jokes and seemed to be more interested in pushing pills than helping people. Don’t go here even as a last resort

I am extremely happy with the doctors I have seen at Valley Behavioral Services. They are pleasant & considerate. I see Stephanie & I couldn't ask for her to be any better. However, the office staff are terrible. They do not sound happy to be there or happy to help you whatsoever. I had a conversation with billing today & the lady seemed very bothered by my needing help. So much so that when ending the call she just hung up. No have a good day, bye, nothing. In my opinion, the office staff needs to be revamped. Even when calling in for appointments they truly seem like they hate working there & helping people. I would recommend Valley Behavioral, but just know that the office staff aren't going to show you much respect or concern.
