I had a great experience at Sun's Rehab Unit - good food( 3 meals a day, breakfast is awesome, plus plenty of snacks), you get plenty of breaks to go outside and toss football, walk outside, etc. You are allowed to use your phone twice a day for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon which is a plus, they give you nice clothes or shoes if you forgot to bring any or don't want to pull the strings out of your clothes, the unit is pretty clean as well as the rooms and bathrooms, you can ask for earplugs to help you sleep, they have plenty of different board games, puzzles, cards to play when not in a group session, on TV they have HBO max, Netflix, Amazon prime, cable, you name it they got it, the group sessions and recreational sessions are fun and very educational. You learn a lot of valuable info, the instructors Wade and Nick are awesome, they know what they are talking about, they bring in Life Learning Center out of Covington to help you find jobs or training for trade jobs and can help people get their life back together by starting with the basics( getting you a new license, social security card, etc.) they also will help you find a sober living place to live, or a long term rehab facility if needed. And they will even arrange you a ride to get you there. The reason why Sun doesn't have the best reviews is because their are 8 total units/departments in the whole hospital, and most are psychiatric patients or detox patients who are forced to be there and don't want to be there, and don't care about changing or wanting help. So they give bad reviews because they are mad at the world or life in general, or are mentally handicapped. Their rehab unit is voluntary after detox. After getting out of detox for a couple of days, Dr. Alvarez( head doctor at Sun and very knowledgeable man who tells you how it is), asked me to do the rehab program along with Nick, I agreed and then spent the next 15 days in rehab and graduated the program and got a certificate. I very much enjoyed my stay, the nursing staff is great and very accommodating, they will help you with anything you need- just ask, you get good meds and are well taken care of, Skylar is awesome, doesn't sugarcoat anything she tells you, listen to what she says because she is extremely knowledgeable. The other really good and friendly nurses are Melissa, Sarah, Beth, Will, and Tyler. The nurse practitioners Trisha and Brent check in with you every day- very professional and are very friendly, nice, and accommodating. Shout out to the great MHT's ( Mental health technicians) Melissa, Ted, Shawn, Amanda, Hailey, and Kealei. They are all very nice, intelligent, and helpful people and will get you whatever you need and give you great advice. Ted gives a killer good and very interesting group session in the evenings where you talk about a wide variety of subjects. The guy is super smart.
