Very negative experience. After submitting the intake I didn’t hear back from anyone. I waited weeks and finally called to get an appointment scheduled. I took off work to make it and was excited to start working with someone. About 30 minutes before my appt I received an email that it had been rescheduled for a totally different day and time.

Had high hopes for this place. Don’t be fooled by the 5 star ratings as many are from staff/management. They do have (or had) some really sweet staff members that go above and beyond. Shout out to Tameka on the weekends. They also have some amazing volunteers who come in for activities and have prizes and make seasonal decorations. Healthcare is a tough place right now and staffing is an issue everywhere. But I worked in medical management and if the staff you have is not doing their job, it is up to you to step in and make sure things are done properly until you hire someone that can. Kim, who is listed as the director, takes no accountability. Unless you are someone who needs minimal assistance, she isn’t going to be much help. I had zero confidence in her after our first two meetings when I had issues and we literally asked to record future conversations because she denied saying things to me in private. Her daughter, Kourtney, who is second in command seems to be the one who does all the leg work and is one of the only people who would follow up on things when she said she would. There is mold in the building. The cleaning is sub par…the room wasn’t even properly cleaned when we moved in (washcloth and items left in shower, etc). The food (unless it’s greatly improved in 9 months) is slop. When we were there not even the staff ate the food. They have no handicap accessible vehicle in use so unless you can climb into the mini van, you won’t be going on an outing. I actually met with the owner and had a laundry list of concerns. It felt like he may have actually cared, but he was supposed to reach back out in 30 days and it’s now been a year and I never heard back from him. Hey Mike Shepard, you still have my contact info…would love to hear from you! Other residents have a list of concerns and Management is quick to say “my door is always open”, but residents fear complaining too much because they will be asked to leave and they have no other option. This was told to me directly by 3 residents. I believe that to be true because it was even said to me. Fact of the matter is I’m not sure there are any “great” places to put loved ones so maybe this is one of the better ones in Saline County.:/ It is a field that is not easy to work in and it is hard work and you have to love what you do to be good at it. I believe Kim has a good heart, I just think she is overworked and burnt out and it shows. The more of an advocate you are for your loved one, the better. Be present, stay involved. Many individuals don’t have that luxury and it is just really sad to hear them say they feel stuck.
