I have come to realize with help, I'm in control! Everyone here from Chuck to Jessica, Edwin and all of the Social Workers and nursing staff have helped prepare me for life! Tangible tools, group sessions, being vulnerable, learning to listen to myself. These have all made me a different person! Therapy works! Making time for yourself is not selfish, and I had to learn that! I now am more equipped than I have ever been to face any obstacle! If you are afraid to get help, don't be. Find what is right for you! This entire experience has opened my eyes to seeing MYSELF differently! I have changed and I'm not defined by my mistakes. I am a soul with a body, not a body with a soul!

I used to be there. Back in 2008-2009 I was only 15. Except back then my name was lupe. Starview was a place that was for the kids that were bad. A place where the system didn't know where else to place us. Basically the last resort group home. Yeah I may have been on unnecessary pills but the staff never treated us bad. It was actually us kids that made it a living hell for the staff. Late night messing with the staff. Floading the bathroom sinks. Fighting. And of course there was I. Getting in trouble fought twice there and I was more for getting high and sneaking into my girls room. I've heard so much that everything has changed that the staff are bad and the kids are even as bad. When I first got there I wanted to fight everyone in my way only because my mom didn't fight for me. So I was places in there. So no that place didn't make us bad. Starview try to help as much as they can to understand why we end up bad and end up there. Starview changed my life. If I didn't go I probably would have been found dead. Being place there gave me a chance to get cleaned up and have a life. Now I am a gown adult with 2 kids that love me so much. And I have starview to thank for that. I came from nothing to being a mother having my own place. So I don't care what anyone saying. I thank starview for giving me that chance in life to make a difference. Instead of being another statistic that the system labels us to be. I became something in life. Went to high school and graduated. And went off to college as well. So thank you starview. And I miss the one staff that showed me tough love. Brenda she was awesome. And the night shift lady. She name was Amber she was always there for me and she even worked at Maryvale
