I was deeply dismayed and disappointed by the way my father was treated at Dr. Rimmey's office. I made an appointment for a physical for him over a month ahead of time- I specified to the person who took my call that I wanted him to have a complete physical, vaccines, labs, etc as well discuss ways to support his memory issues. The man I spoke to seemed to note my request and told me we would have a 40 minute appointment for a physical. My dad did not receive any kind of physical- the Dr left the room without even listening to his heart or lungs or doing any kind of assessment. She stated she would have a man named Dillon come in and give us some referrals to support him at home with his memory issues. At some point in the conversation, she said she would give us a neurology referral. This was not done. I have called the office twice since and requested the neurology referral and have yet to receive it. Dillon came in and gave us paperwork to complete which I believe was for Health First Colorado. He told me to complete it as best we could and we could then make an appointment with him to go over it and submit it. I did that, called Dillon, and made an appointment to review the paperwork with him on 1/28 at noon. We arrived for this paperwork appointment and checked in at the desk. After about 10 minutes, this absolutely horrible woman- who stated she was Dillon's supervisor- came out and rudely told us that Dillon was not there. She said she checked his schedule and informed me that she did not believe we had any appointment, when we absolutely did. She said, "What are you applying for?" I showed her the papers and she said, "Oh, you're applying for Medicaid? Just go down to Human Services!" I did not know we were applying for Medicaid, I was told we were applying for a program that might get some help for my dad. She was so abrasive, so unkind, I could not believe that she was 1) a supervisor and 2) someone who interacted with the public. I'm not a person of means. I took time away from my job and flew in from WI to get my dad in a safe and healthy place. I counted on this doctor and staff to help us get there. It was all a complete waste of time and effort. I cannot even begin to verbalize how disappointing and frustrating it is.

This facility deserves a MUCH higher rating than it currently has. The staff at the ATU are absolutely S-Tier human beings and top-notch professionals. These guys know their stuff, and are some of the kindest, most compassionate and understanding people I’ve had the privilege of meeting. I have been to several inpatient facilities before, and this one is by far the best. It’s a very small unit, with a very calm and welcoming vibe. The real treat here is definitely the staff, though. These are genuinely some of my favorite people I’ve ever met. Andy, Liz, Siena, Mel, Laura, literally everybody, all the behavioral techs, all the nurses, those guys deserve a pay raise, SERIOUSLY. Axis, PLEASE, I BEG of you, pay these people more. They barely make more than me, and I work at a dollar store. These people are the REASON I’m sitting at home right now feeling like myself. Shout outs to David for driving me home, Dr. Powers for believing in me, and Dr. Ketner for supporting me and saving my best friend’s life.
