They now enforce a new policy, which is not required by law - in which you must have a whole new appointment with your provider, to transfer a prescription to another pharmacy, if your pharmacy doesn't have your medication in stock. They will force you to go through a week or more of debilitating withdrawals, to wait for another appointment, just to be able to talk to your doctor, to have your medication sent elsewhere. This is something I find to not only be absolutely absurd, but especially cruel to those on psychiatric medications. Withdrawals can make a person commit suicide, yet they treat it like it's just a minor inconvenience. This policy is NOT required by law, it's not always been this way, and now it feels like they're lying to my face about it and gas-lighting me about it. Getting my medication, that I need to even be functional, is now harder than ever before, endlessly frustrating, and entirely absurd. Getting through to them on the phone, is also incredibly difficult. I had to call over 15 times today, just to get through once. I would recommend looking for psychiatric treatment elsewhere, if you can.

I have Humana Military CHCBP insurance and many providers don't understand this insurance, but if a provider takes Tricare, they are providers for Humana Military (the credentialing is the same process). I made an appointment the week before I saw my provider and less than two hours before my appointment, I got a call from them trying to cancel my appointment because they had not verified my coverage and they said the system was down. Because they are Tricare providers (says so on their site) and I know ANYONE who is a Tricare provider is credentialed to take Humana Military, I told them I would pay with a credit card and they could bill my insurance. I will note it was a important visit to me because my adult son was moving out of state the next week and we had just had a major crisis in our relationship and he was supposed to meet me there for a neutral place with a therapist. I ended up going to the visit, but went to the wrong building (they are right next to another mental health care facility). I have a TBI and being late to the appointment and also not seeing my son there left me in quite a state. I still wanted to see the therapist because I didn't even feel safe driving at that point. The therapist was very helpful. no complaints with the therapy. But Humana (Tricare processes the claims) denied the visit because my provider was not credentialed to take Tricare. When I made the appointment with this group it was because they accepted Tricare. I tried to call the billing office at least 6 times in the next several months. When I finally talked to the biller they said the claim was sent, and denied, and they would not even discuss reimbursing me.They also admitted that provider wasn't credentialed "at that time". If they know my insurance only covers me if a provider is credentialed with Tricare, why would they put me with a provider that isn't credentialed to take Tricare? That mistake is on THEM, not me. They said because I agreed to cover charges my insurance didn't pay, I was responsible for the charges, but this is absurd because they say right on their website they are providers for Tricare. I agreed to pay with a credit card because I KNEW my insurance would pay. But of course they aren't going to pay if a provider isn't credentialed to take Tricare. So 1. they should have called and verified my insurance BEFORE (not the day of), and 2. they should have put me with a Tricare credentialed provider. In my over 30 years of being in the Tricare system, this has only happened one other time. The office said they took Tricare, but it was out of network (and they didn't inform me of that). In that situation the doctor agreed to reimburse me because it was his office staff that made that mistake. This is unethical behavior. Tricare people beware. Make sure any provider you use at this place is actually credentialed to take Tricare. I will be reporting them to Tricare, Humana Military, and to DORA. This is not the way to treat military people. Also, they were pretty rude and kept interrupting me with "you agreed to pay for the charges'" as if that absolves them from doing their job. Why pay for the people to call and verify benefits and take care of the credentialing issues if they aren't actually doing their job?
