I’ve been coming to Clay Behavioral for some time now, and when I first started, it truly felt like a great facility. You could tell certain staff members like Terry and Dr. Mengi genuinely care about their patients and take pride in what they do. They want to see people succeed in recovery, and that meant a lot to me. Unfortunately, lately there have been changes that are very concerning. It seems like new policies are making it more difficult for patients especially those serious about their sobriety to access treatment and medication. This week alone, I was turned away from my appointment for being just 9 minutes late due to heavy traffic on Blanding, where state troopers were conducting a speed trap. As a single mom who prioritizes recovery to care for my family, this was incredibly frustrating and discouraging. I had already checked in and was in the process of paying my copay when I was told I would not be seen. As a result, I went without my medication for three days. Today, I arrived early for my rescheduled appointment, only to sit in the waiting room for over three hours as I write this review still waiting. I had to take time off work for this, and the lack of consideration is extremely disappointing. I am strong in my recovery and thankfully did not relapse but my concern is for others who may be early in their journey. Policies like this could seriously impact someone who is trying to do better but needs consistent support and access to care. I truly hope the facility reconsiders how these rules are being enforced, because recovery should be supported, not made harder.
