Basepoint was such a great place for my son. His counselor truly cared and was so helpful to him, as well as our family relationships. This facility is top notch. Everyone we met and/or worked with was professional and offerred hope for us. I would highly recommend it to anyone I know who needs help and hope for their kid.

(This is a long one so buckle up)Changes McKinney is not to be trusted this program values how much they can charge your insurance in order to help your child. On my son’s official first day in the program I received a phone call from a supposed psychiatrist who I or my wife never met the whole time our son was in the program. Tell me via phone my son needed to be put on medication for his mental health, I was skeptical due to never meeting this woman in person, no idea of her credentials as a physiatrist or transparency of the evaluation she supposedly performed on my son to justify such a diagnosis. What parent would agree to medication for their child’s health over the phone having never met the physician??? It was then apparent in the coming weeks as they continued to push for me and my wife to put him on medication and our continued to push back that we didn’t feel comfortable with that option that Changes McKinney was not intended on keeping our son in the program. Because we hadn’t fallen for their strategic approach to prolonging his admission into the program in order to continue to charge our insurance they had no desire to help in any way. Our son was then pushed out the program with two weeks still left. The appropriate paperwork was not filled out so that my wife could take leave from work in order to be available for the needs of our son as it applied to the program. Now my wife is attempting to get documentation to be resubmitted with her employer for her leave from work to be approved only to be given the run around by Changes McKinney. For that reason we are currently filing a complaint with the Texas Medical Board to investigate and audit the files of Changes McKinney.

My 70 year old Mom was brought here by the police department to be assessed for dementia due to her erratic behavior and confusion. I left messages for the staff to call me and verify if she was ok after 2 days and no one responded. I was not able to get ahold of anyone until she had been there for 4 days. I repeatedly called and left messages for the staff and for her to call me with no return phone call. I finally got ahold of a nurse on the adolescent unit who brought a message to thev Nurse on her unit. When the Nurse called me from her unit all she did was complain about my Mom's behavior. She NEVER gave me a code to call my Mom and never told me about visitation hours and times. My Mom also did not know I needed a passcode to call or when visitation was. My Mom is clearly unwell mentally and they never discussed her mental health with me at all. She is unable to relay any of this information to me and has memory issues. She was taken to the ER the 2nd day she was there due to severly elevated blood pressure and she requested that they call me and no one ever did. When I asked why she did not call me while there they stated they took her phone privalages away. They were taken away because she called 911 due to her high blood pressure. They refused to give her medical care. She says she suffered a mild heart attack and no one there reached out to me to let me know. She came home in worse condition then she was in when she was taken there. They released her after 10 days and were unable to get her to take any new medications. They are a behavioral health center. How were they unable to treat her? She was not allowed to go to group therapy sessions and didnt see a therapist until she had been there 7 days. They never shared a diagnosis with me and failed to make any arrangements for continuing care. They held her there for 10 days and did nothing for her other than make her worse. In my opinion they kept her there for insurance money and did not care wether or not her condition improved or if her family had the tools to help her. DO NOT trust this place to care for your loved one. Terrible, terrible place. I'm now in a way worse situation with my Mom than I was in prior to her going there.
