I’m writing this review based on my experience with this practice as both a parent and a patient. When my 12-year-old daughter was under the care of the psychiatrist here, appointments were always scheduled according to the doctor’s convenience, not the patient’s. The time frame repeatedly did not work for our family, and when I asked if it could be adjusted, I was consistently told that the doctor was “too busy.” While I understand that professionals have demanding schedules, it was disappointing to feel that a young patient’s needs were not given much consideration. In addition, I was also a patient of this practice. I had believed my psychiatrist was someone who genuinely cared about her patients’ well-being. However, during a very difficult time when I experienced a severe reaction that was later determined to be a medication side effect, I did not feel supported. I was sent to the hospital in crisis, where I was admitted, and it was only there that the issue with the medication was recognized. Overall, I did not feel the level of support, attention, or responsiveness that patients—especially a child—deserve. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in communication, scheduling flexibility, and patient support.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who's child/family member is struggling with mental health. I originally thought I chose the right place to send my daughter, but boy was I wrong. I did not speak to a nurse or doctor her whole stay. Any conversation was held through the case worker and just because they were not in active crisis, it was alright to go ahead and do it. They stopped one med cold turkey without even talking to us, and also upped another med without instruction. Please, do not send your kid here. Advocate and educate yourself on the facilities. New Jersey sucks for Mental Health Aid for the youth.
