If you are considering Healthcare Alternative Systems (H.A.S.), I strongly urge you to look elsewhere — any other provider will likely serve you with more professionalism, accountability, and basic respect. I was referred to H.A.S. for a standard outpatient program — a simple 20-hour requirement — and what I experienced instead was a chaotic, mismanaged, and clinically questionable operation. My repeated requests for signed agreements, discharge documentation, and written justification for “higher level of care” recommendations were either delayed, ignored, or handled with condescending excuses. The program itself is disorganized, and the staff are either overwhelmed or simply careless. Despite attending group sessions, I was penalized for absences based on their internal record-keeping — even though they had no formal tracking mechanism communicated to clients. Their reasoning for discharge was inconsistent, vague, and built on incomplete assessments, including: • Positive alcohol test results that had no contextual explanation • Clinicians labeling me as disruptive for participating while working — despite never being told this was an issue • “Confused thoughts and erratic behavior” cited without a single formal diagnosis or mental health evaluation All of this culminated in their attempt to escalate my case to a higher level of care, which appears to be a convenient way for them to generate more billable hours rather than actually support clients. This is not a facility that works in the patient’s best interest. It is an assembly-line operation, quick to discharge and slow to respond — unless you’re threatening legal action. I have every email, record request, and contradiction documented. If you value your time, your sanity, and your legal standing — stay away from H.A.S. There are far more ethical, organized, and respectful treatment centers in Chicago. This one should be audited, investigated, and publicly held accountable for its practices.
