Nobody wants to go to rehab, but if you have to, Sanford should be a top choice. They have all of the bases covered. Every staff member was understanding with many of them having had their own struggles with substance abuse. The living arrangements were clean and comfortable. Food was great - menu rotates regularly. Really appreciated learning about the neurobiological factors that drive addiction - gave me a whole new perspective. Garrett was able to get me FMLA thru my employer without a sweat. The medical staff is excellent as well - Dr. B really knows what he's doing. He took the time to understand me and got me off the meds other doctors had put me on causing a lot of my issues. I came out reborn as a new person. Thank you to everyone at Sanford.

I was here this past summer and received good treatment from many esteemed, qualified, and caring staff. The two activity therapists I worked with, the therapists | had, the main ACT group leaders, and my dietitian were absolutely wonderful. But unfortunately, the upper management/corporate individuals do not care about people. We have groups that teach us assertiveness, advocacy, and how to handle injustice... Then they gaslight clients who stand up for themselves and suddenly fire the best employees out of "budget cuts" (they just hired more people). They also constantly change schedules, groups, etc. so it is not a very stable experience. I am lucky I went when the staff had was still there. But if you go, expect the current program director to dismiss and gaslight you and refuse to be honest. The corporate office cares about money and profit and not healing eating disorders. It is a shame there are not more programs available in West Michigan for IOP/PHP/res.
