I don't do mental health, I think I was put in the wrong unit but still the doctors, techs, group workers, social workers, were all Fantastic. I even stayed longer then I should have. All I had to was ask to talk to someone. Each individual I talked to wanted to get to know people. Spanish speakers were treated in a very efficient way.

Well my child is there as of right now, I spoke with the doctor one time after he was admitted and I have yet to hear anything back from anyone since then. I haven't had a call about any progress, or any concerns from them they haven't called to tell me anything that they recommend anything that they're feeling that is going on with him. He went in due to being depressed and also manipulative behaviors with his depression, and I have gotten nothing back from these people. So when I called to question this, I was told that I wouldn't be contacted until they were getting ready to release him, and when I came to pick him up, I wouldn't see the doctor, I would see a case manager. So my question to them was how do I know what this doctor is thinking, what is going on, this is such a very unprofessional place. If my child needs help again, he will most definitely not come back to this place. When he got there he told me how dirty the place was and smelled terrible. They have done nothing but hold him in a stable like a horse.

This is my first time ever in therapy and I must admit it was a good experience. I noticed a change in my own outlook and perspective immediately after the session. BJ was awesome and made me feel comfortable throughout the session.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in North Carolina?
When comparing providers in North Carolina, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in North Carolina?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in North Carolina?
Some listings in North Carolina may include providers that offer substance use treatment alongside mental health services, depending on available provider data. Use the Core Services filter to search for specific service types, or browse facility detail pages to see the full list of services reported for each provider.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all North Carolina providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
